At the Metropolitan Museum of Design Detroit (MM-O-DD), we are committed to fostering an environment that provides access and direct pathway too the Design Industry through educational enrichment and experiential opportunities to celebrate the rich tapestry of people, their frame of reference and experiences that combine to inform them about the world of design. At MM-O-DD, everyone, regardless of background is valued and included as we encourage a wide range of perspectives.

STORYTELLING
MM-O-DD strives to have every aspect of the programming, exhibitions, and initiatives of the museum spark curiosity to the public. We aim to shine a light on the stories that shape our society. These represent a broad spectrum of authenticity. Each individual has their own authentic self.

We are committed to providing experiential opportunities for all individuals within the MM-O-DD community and beyond. At MM-O-DD, access is the golden key to knowledge for all; being aware of potencial barriers as they are presented and building the necessary bridges to connect individuals and communities.

At the heart of the MM-O-DD's mission, we strive to create a welcoming and respectful environment where all individuals feel a sense of belonging and the safety to explore and question the world around them. We actively seek to curate each moment of our engagement with community. Each time ensuring the stories told are respected and valued.

MM-O-DD is dedicated to programming that is accessible to everyone through the use of physical, digital and sensory accessibility accommodations. Our facilities, communications, and services are continuously assessed to ensure accessibility to all involved with the museum.

OUR COMMITMENT
Education and Training: MM-O-DD provides ongoing training for our staff, volunteers, and board members to ensure a thorough understanding and ongoing commitment to these principles.
Community Engagement: We actively engage with our community, fostering partnerships and collaborations that enhance our efforts to be accessible.
Accountability: We are held accountable by regular assessment of our practices and programming through our board of directors, executive board, advisory and social councils in order to make necessary improvements and adjustments to MM-O-DD policies and prodigals.
Transparency: MM-O-DD’s initiatives, progress, updates and outcomes are shared openly with our community in a spirit of complete transparency.
