CONDUCT BECOMING
Portrait Photography by C.J. Breil
Conduct Becoming is a portrait photography series by C.J. Breil honoring veterans from diverse branches and eras of military service. Featuring more than 100 images, the series captures veterans in their present-day environments, often within the intimacy of their own homes or living spaces, alongside reproductions of their original military portraits.
The juxtaposition of past and present creates a powerful visual dialogue—revealing the passage of time, personal history, identity, and the enduring impact of military service. Through these intimate portraits, Briel offers a deeply personal perspective on the people behind the uniform and the lives they continue to lead long after their service has ended.

About
MM-O-DD
The Metropolitan Museum of Design Detroit (MODD) is a nonprofit museum dedicated to advancing design through education, exhibitions, and community engagement. Inspired by Detroit's legacy as a UNESCO City of Design, MODD connects people with the power of design to inspire creativity, foster innovation, and create pathways to careers that strengthen communities and shape a better future.

Eric Saarinen was a true believer that nature inspires design. The MM-O-DD programming focused on BIOMIMICRY is named after Eric. The endorsement from the Saarinen Family shows the importance of teaching of this mindset was generational. We aim to teach this as an essential family value.

Corey Damen Jenkins is the principal and chief executive officer of Corey Damen Jenkins & Associates, an internationally acclaimed interior design and architecture firm based in New York City. Celebrated for its deft approach to layering sophisticated colors, textures, and patterns to create timeless and iconic spaces, CDJA has been inducted into Architectural Digest’s AD100 and ELLE Décor’s A-List.

We include all ages in our Design Industry exploration in Detroit.

Our exhibitions will start January 10, 2026, with the reveal of MODDITTIES. An elevated Cabinet Of Curiosities. The timeline runs through March 28, 2026. The next event, called Earthlings Unite, will be from April 11 - August 22, for the closing reception. In June, we will have many activations for our second Tea Dance. September, Detroit's Month Of Design, brings a stellar Design Focus which will be revealed soon. Then the November-December Worldly Exhibition will commence.
